A New Season of Local Tables Launches Soon
This fall, we're launching a brand-new season of Local Tables (our version of small groups). Local Tables offer space to find belonging, deepen connection (with God, self, and others), and put our faith into practice.
About Local Tables
Local Tables have been part of our DNA at The Local Church from the very beginning. Even before we gathered for weekly worship on Sunday mornings, we gathered in homes and community spaces around tables. It's rooted in the conviction that Jesus did his best work around tables: sharing meals, telling stories, listening, loving.
And it's how the earliest followers of Jesus gathered, too. The book of Acts describes it this way:
“The believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the community, to their shared meals, and to their prayers. A sense of awe came over everyone. God performed many wonders and signs through the apostles. All the believers were united and shared everything…” — Acts 2:42-44 (CEB)
What to expect
Our Local Tables gather about every other week during the academic year, with breaks in December and summer. At each Table, there's usually food, guided conversation, and opportunities to check in to share what's happening in your life with people who care.
Why they matter
Here's why Local Tables matter: When calendars are full and the pace is relentless, Local Tables give you space to slow down and breathe. When so much is driven by algorithms and artificial intelligence, Local Tables prioritize real, authentic human connection. And when hyperpartisanship and division are rampant, the simple act of gathering for a Local Table can feel like resistance.
Practically, though, it's also where you find your ride to the airport at 4 a.m., your pet-sitter when you're on vacation, and the friend you text when you just need to know you're not alone.
You can learn more and find your Local Table here. I’m so excited that we have a few new options this season! And if you have questions, just send us a note.
